Performance Solar Gain in Conservatories
As well as for privacy and décor, the majority of our customers choose one of our high specification fabrics as their conservatory is too hot to use during the summer. Not only do our high-tec pleated and roller fabrics keep you cool in the Summer, they also retain heat in the Winter, saving you money. Check out the full details and specifications of our 3 main fabric suppliers, Amo, Eclipse & Louvolite.
Installing roof blinds is by far the best way to control the heat in a conservatory. Side or window blinds, have a small effect on solar gain and are moreso employed for decorative reasons and to give privacy where necessary. They also give this room a more cosy and homely feel, as quite often with nothing at the windows, it can feel quite stark and cold.
Below is an example comparing how temperatures differ when you manufacture using a high-tec fabric for your roof blinds compared against the same room with no roof blinds. The measurements were taken in a south-facing conservatory in Greater London in July. The graph is designed as an example illustration only as exact temperatures will vary depending on ambient conditions, ventilation, type of conservatory, direction the conservatory faces, and ambient surroundings as well as local weather. However we hope you will find it useful as it clearly demonstrates the advantage that installing blinds can have.
