What is your hallway to you? Is it just a convenient place for your coat? Yet the entrance to your home is the first glimpse a guest or burglar has of you. Your hallway isn’t just a utilitarian space to leave your shoes. It’s a part of your home and as such it can reflect who you are as a human being, what you stand for, the very essence of your soul. Yeah, that’s a lot for a hallway to convey, which is why you may need some hallway styling ideas.

Hallway styling ideas when you want your guests to feel welcomed

When it comes to styling your hallway, the same basic guidelines of interior design still apply.

Tiny hallway? Make the space you have work for you, and that means the walls. Sure you’ll want to hang a mirror and get some art up there as well. Cheerful colours are an obvious choice – for the walls as well as the art.

Besides obvious decorating ideas, how about removing doors to create a through view? This will make your hall seem and actually be much bigger. There could be room for a neat little welcome station (that’s a table to put your keys on), or simply allow more than two guests to stand together while they admire how the colours in your hallway tie into the decor of your now open rooms. Your tiny abode may not have a garden, so having some greenery at the end of your ‘view’ will add both style and homeliness, all thanks to your hallway styling ideas.

To add natural light to your hallway, introduce a frosted glass door. Add a bright simple roller or Perfect Fit blind for added privacy and shade. And how about a statement rug or hall runner? These hallway styling ideas assume you can have nice things. But if you don’t live alone and have to share your space with family …

Hallway Styling Ideas that can survive children and pets

How can you keep your hallway styling ideas in one piece when said hallway has such a high volume of traffic?

Easy-to-keep clean floors, whether classic Milton or vinyl laminate tiles, will make all the difference. As for window dressings, you can still bring style to your hallway with scratch-resistant faux wood or bendable (that’s bendable-back-into-shape) aluminium Venetian blinds for when your little darlings get carried away.

Hallway styling ideas when you have a lot of space to play with

Is your hallway so large it’s basically an additional room? You can have a bench so you can sit down as soon as you come in, kick the old mules off and slip directly into your fluffy slippers. And if your hallway is so big, do you even have to go to work? Why not use that gaping hole under your stairs as your home office? In which case, you don’t want Postie spying on you at your desk. Vertical or Venetian blinds are perfect for a multipurpose space. You can angle the slats or louvres to obtain the light you need, and still keep your activities private. You can also pull off a subtle peek if you wish to see who’s ringing your bell before answering the door.

If you don’t want to be at your desk and find yourself in a draught, an opulent and practical hallway styling idea is to have a curtain by your front door. Or perhaps you need to stay cool while you work. A neat cellular blind will reflect the heat away. Its honeycomb design will also trap heat in winter, keeping you toasty. Who knew a hallway styling idea could be energy efficient too?

Hallway styling ideas to show people who you are

As already suggested, the whole point of a hallway is to expose yourself to the world! (No emails on that, please.)

What better way to share a little about yourself than styling your hallway as a display area? From Star Wars figures to commemorative plates, your hallway walls can speak volumes about you. Family photographs can be seen instead of forgotten about in albums and bring warmth to your hallway.

Hallway Styling Ideas decor tips

Statement coat hooks, statement brolly stands or statement coatstands will show your hallway off. Any cupboard can become stylish by using shutters as doors. For a coherent look, one colour or pattern can connect your runner, rug or carpet. With a wide range of fabrics to choose from, we can make you a bespoke blind that will fit with any hallway styling ideas you have.

The Man, you know which one I mean, is all too eager to get us back into the office. This distrustful control freak needs to take a chill pill and let employees work from home where practicable. Sure, some folks prefer the office, especially if they’ve invested in office real estate, and with the move to work from home, the value of their investment is now plummeting. Meanwhile, others prefer not to add the stress of a commute to their day, to be refreshed and relaxed for work, and to be able to focus in the quiet of their home rather than being constantly interrupted by colleagues who have just dropped by their desk because they need to talk about everything face to face as if they’ve never heard of email.

So let’s explore home office inspiration to help you focus and be productive with a lot less stress.

Home Office Inspiration is a must when your home office is part of another room

If your home office is tucked in a corner of your bedroom, kitchen or living room, having the right blinds will help with your multipurpose space. During the day you need light to work, but you also need to shade your monitor. Then at night, you’ll want privacy. Venetian blinds and Vertical blinds have the same advantage, in that they give you the greatest control over light, shade and privacy. You need only tilt the slats and louvres to the desired angle, depending on what you need and when.

Venetians with faux wood slats will look both cosy and professional, a perfect choice for multipurpose home office inspiration. With the right fabric choice, Vertical blinds can suit any decor, from traditional to something more urbane.

Home Office Inspiration when you have a whole room to be your home office

Venetian blinds and Vertical blinds are still top contenders when it comes to home office inspiration for the same reasons stated above. But when out of sight of a Zoom meeting and colleagues, there’s no reason you can’t make yourself feel good with classy and attractive Roman blinds or some stylish shutters. Duo Vision blinds are a more dressy version of Venetian blinds, giving you the same control over light and privacy but with a softer appearance if you find Venetians too officey for your home. This makes Duo Vision blinds a practical and attractive addition to home office inspiration.

Duo Vision blinds are also one of the types of blind referred to as Day and Night blinds, as they’re easy to switch from needed light during the day to privacy at night. Double Roller blinds are also Day and Night blinds as they have two fabrics, one sheer for day and the other opaque for night. Top Down Bottom Up blinds (no, really) are especially versatile as you can adjust these blinds to whichever part of your window needs to be covered, and switch from sheer fabric to opaque with a simple tab. Such versatility is perfect for home office inspiration.

Home Office Inspiration means colours will help you be more productive

What can be more suitable to home office inspiration than the colours you chose? Do you get to be creative at work? Purple will help spark the mind and your soul. And for those moments of drudgery, hopefully brief, let that sun yellow or orange wall lift your spirits. As for those incompetent work colleagues and those awful customers you have to deal with, make sure there’s some calming blue for you to rest your eyes on.

Home Office Inspiration is needed when it’s where you spend eight hours of your day

An inspiring home office will invigorate you, help you focus and be productive, all from the comfort of your own home. Both your decor and how you work will play a part in how your home office inspires you to be in a place you want to be for eight hours a day. So consider how you’ll be setting up your workspace. An adaptable desk, which can be heightened to be a standing desk, will help keep you on your toes. Plants always brighten a space. Be sure to get fresh air – another reason the right window covering can be so important.

Another option is one of those desk beds. No, really. Churchill worked from his office, his bathtub and his bed. On her return from (the) Crimea, Florence Nightingale believed she had failed. Over the next twenty years, from her bed, Nightingale waged her campaign to improve the sanitation of hospitals. How’s that for an inspirational home office? So yes, a bed desk is certainly an option!

If someone walked into your home and had the pleasure of feasting their eyes on your grey and white interior, what would they think of you? That you’re elegant and sophisticated? That you’re modern and practical? That you don’t have any children?

A grey and white interior gives you timeless and versatile decor, suitable for a cosy period room or a modern urbane one. You might be looking to highlight a dramatic architectural feature – how better to show off huge arch windows than with a neutral palette? Perhaps you love the idea of a white and black interior scheme but are concerned it might feel too stark.

You don’t need flashy colour. And it’s doubtful that you drink red wine. It’s time for you to embrace that grey and white interior decor you’ve been dreaming of.

A grey and white interior compliments itself

A simple way to identify complimentary colours is to see which colours are opposite each other on a colour wheel. They complement each other by being in contrast to each other. Colours roughly opposite each other count too, hence grey and white make a subtle team that can deliver on style, warmth or drama, depending on your preference.

You can have the grey and the white in roughly equal quantities, or one as the dominant and the other as the secondary colour. Another option is to utilise the classic 60-30-10 ratio, where grey or white will take up 60 or 30% of the colour scheme, with an additional colour as the 10% accent colour. You can use different hues of grey and white along with pattern and texture to add depth and character to the scheme.

What other colours go with a grey and white interior?

Quite possibly everything, since both grey and white are neutrals. If you’ve been relaxing amongst some cool greys and whites, maybe you’d welcome a burst of orange or plum to warm things up. Bright citrus colours, yellow and lime, will add lively accents. Pastels work well too, keeping the style soft and subtle. Metallic tones will add drama. Shades of blue will add a subtle contrast too. And don’t forget other neutrals!

Curtains and blinds give plenty of opportunities to add pattern, texture and accent colours. Let these necessary window dressings add to your grey and white interior scheme and guide you on what to do about cushions and other accessories.

A grey and white interior is sophisticated – and cosy

For an elegant yet still welcoming look, a lighter grey will elevate your room. And if the elevation you’re looking for has more to do with height, then a white ceiling will do just that. If this sounds rather cold, remember colours come with a hint of another colour about them. A grey with a hint of pink or brown will bring warmth to your chosen grey.

To enhance your look, Vertical blinds add sophistication to a room, and if you have bifold or sliding doors, then the Allusion blind, part curtain, part blind, is a practical and elegant solution to shading, protection and privacy.

A darker grey will make things more cosy. Add a panelled wall for texture and pattern. A lighter grey on the ceiling will enhance the cosiness. And a classic Roman blind brings both style and that snug feeling.

A grey and white interior is fresh – and serene

Are you looking for the crisp freshness of a coastal dwelling? A grey and white interior naturally lends itself to a Scandi influence. Add warmth to the grey and white with shades of deep blue, perhaps courtesy of a practical roller blind, or maybe Venetians or Duo Vision blinds for ultra control over privacy and light.

To enhance a sense of serenity, layer up with different shades of grey. Perhaps shutters will take you to a tranquil setting, or maybe you’d rather have flowing voiles wafting in a summer breeze.

A grey and white interior may sound boring, but when done with pattern, texture and different shades, the versatility of a grey and white interior scheme can be calming minimalist or dramatic maximalist, for whatever suits your taste.

Orange in interior design?! Surely not. Orange is just too much! But nothing is too much for you, and orange can and will take its rightful place in interior design. Sure it’s an obvious choice for an accent colour, but orange can and should be the main event when it comes to ideas for interior design for your home.

Orange in Interior Design will make you happy!

Frank Sinatra said orange is the happiest colour. I’ve no idea how Ole Blue Eyes came to make this statement, but if we can’t believe a crooner when it comes to interior design and our psychological states, then I’d like to know who we can believe.

Orange has been described as a versatile colour, meaning you can use it wherever you please. Orange can be part of the interior design for your entertainment areas to ensure an enthusiastic and excited mood for your guests, and yet orange can also be warm and cosy, making orange an excellent choice for a snug or your bedroom.

If the same colour can be suitable for different moods, it’s because it’s the hue that makes all the difference. A lighter shade will encourage a more energetic vibe, while a darker one will bring cosiness, as well as a touch of sophistication.

The only thing you need to ask yourself is how much orange you want in your interior design. Anyone can see a bright bold colour and assign it to the role of accent colour. But what if your love for orange means you want it everywhere – orange walls, orange floor, orange furniture? I say go for it! I also say you might want to bear in mind some classic interior design guidelines.

Orange in interior design is to be complemented

A colour wheel is the perfect guide to finding the colours that will complement orange in your interior design. The complementary colour is the one that offers the most contrast. The colour opposite orange on the colour wheel is blue.

A very handy guide in interior design is the 60-30-10 principle. So 60% of your room will be in orange (oh yes it will!), 30% in blue and 10% will be the accent colour – perhaps a neutral, or maybe even a colour that is analogous to orange or blue. With the right hues, there’s no such thing as too much colour. By ensuring the shades are harmonious, you’ll be striking the right mood with orange leading the way in your interior design.

Different patterns and textures will also help break things up and add depth to the room. A Roman blind in Ember or Kerela Spice fabric will be divine alongside your terracotta walls and tangerine duvet set, all complemented by the soft teal carpeting on your bedroom floor. That’s how orange interior design can bring warmth and splendour to your bedroom.

Analogous colours will embolden orange-based interior design

Analogous colours are the ones that sit next to the chosen colour on the colour wheel. It’s yellow and red that cuddles up next to orange. This might sound all very bright, too bright, for you. Again, it’s all about the shades of orange, red and yellow you employ to keep the palette mellifluous and on point. Your copper-coloured Vertical blinds will combine with your golden yellow couch, and the rose gold walls. Vibrant in summer, cosy in winter, what more can you ask for from your living room?

Accents in orange will lift your interior design

Perhaps this blog has been too orange for you. If orange were to be part of your interior design, maybe you’d rather orange play its part as the accent colour in your home.

Just 10% amber for curtains and cushions, to enhance the 60% warm grey and 30% dark blue of your decor, and you’ll have an inviting yet urbane interior design.

Whether you feel you only need a little or want a lot, there’s always a place for orange in your interior design. It’s cold out, so embrace the happiness of energising yet warming orange.

The Benefits of Vertical Blinds For Your Home

The benefits of having vertical blinds in your home are that you find yourself in a haven of style, urbanity and grace, and at the same time, you’re well-lit when you want light, shaded when you don’t, and obscured from nosey nellies trying to take a gander at your insides. Of your house. At you! The cheek. But with Vertical blinds, you’ll be well protected, from the sun and prying eyes, because Vertical blinds are simply the business.

The benefits of vertical blinds are they give you maximum control over light and privacy

One of the benefits of vertical blinds lies in the action of the louvres. They go all the way around. That may sound more like a party trick than a practical consideration, but this is what gives you so much control over the amount of light and privacy you have. No matter where the sun moves, your louvres can be adjusted to block it. No matter what pose your neighbour the contortionist strikes, your louvres can be slanted to keep their eyes on your blinds, and only your blinds – your beautiful stylish blinds, the lucky so-and-sos.

The benefit of Vertical Blinds is that they look cool

The style benefit that comes from Vertical blinds is that they naturally make the environment they’re in an oasis of urbane modernity. Okay, the rest of your decor may play a part in this, but just in case it doesn’t, at least your windows will be well-dressed. Ooh, the shade! Which, as you already know, is something Vertical blinds are exceptionally good at.

The benefit of Vertical Blinds is that they are easy to keep clean and maintain

Why choke on the dust collected by curtains when a blind gives you the additional benefit of being easy to clean? A flick of the duster will do the job, and when it comes to maintaining your Vertical blinds, they’re also highly durable. If one louvre should be irrevocably damaged, you need only replace that louvre, rather than cough up for a whole new set of blinds. How’s that for being easy to maintain?

The benefit of Vertical Blinds is their versatility

Surely the grace of a vertical blind isn’t for the office? It is if you want a, like, totally cool and awesome office. You need to be able to see your colleagues and keep the sun’s glare off your PowerPoint presentation, so how can you possibly beat the benefits of vertical blinds? You get to stay cool and well-lit while your screen stays in the dark, throwing the sharpest picture of your pie charts out to your audience. Your place of work has a suave conference room, all glass and huge dramatic windows, so surely you want the benefit of cool vertical blinds for it. That way, your work environment keeps its urbane look and remains functional too.

And there’s nothing more versatile than the Allusion blind – part curtain, part blind – it’s already more than one kind of window dressing!

Allusion blinds are perfect for sliding or bifold doors, whether they’re in your home or a conference venue. You can pass through an open door without getting into a fight with your window blind. Nor will you have to stop dead in your tracks to navigate your way through when your hands are full, whether with files or a nice cool margarita. You can just step through as the individual panels allow you to pass at any point in the blind. By alternating panels of sheer and opaque louvres, you can have privacy and still have enough light and still be protected from bugs when the doors are wide open. The Allusion blind can be motorised or operated with a wand. Available in neutral colours, it’s destined to match any decor.

With all this versatility, Vertical blinds are suitable for any room in any location. Whether at home or in a professional environment – which might be the same thing nowadays – Vertical blinds can strike whichever tone is required. The benefits of Vertical blinds are simply too numerous to ignore.

What are Vertical blinds, I hear you cry! Surely blinds run horizontally, all the better to go up and down, you know, the way blinds tend to do.

Turns out they can also move from side to side. Is that necessary, you may be wondering? There are certainly good reasons to consider Vertical blinds over other blinds and curtains. For instance, they look elegant and chic. They add a touch of urbanity to any room. Yes, you can show the world what a sophisticate you are, by how you’ve dressed your windows. What more can you ask from Vertical blinds?

Plenty, probably. If you want more practical reasons as to why Vertical blinds are worthy of your consideration, read on.

Big windows, big doors – Vertical blinds are a must

Vertical blinds are ideal for patio, bifold or sliding doors. They make it so much easier to pass through the doors, and the blinds, when the louvres are open, especially if you go for the creme de la creme of verticals, Allusion blinds. You need never get tangled up in a blind or a curtain when simply trying to open your own big glass doors ever again.

And if you have a big beautiful window to admire your outside space from, Vertical blinds provide a striking dressing. With a variety of materials and colours, Vertical blinds make a stunning contribution to your decor.

What are Vertical Blinds: Private eyes, shaded eyes

You need light, but you also want privacy.

With Vertical blinds, you can position the louvres to the perfect angle to give you both light and privacy. This is because the louvres can be either turned or slid to where you want them. Other blinds, such as Romans and Rollers, and curtains too, tend to offer one extreme or the other.

Horizontal slats, such as the classic Venetian, can give you the same coverage. However,  they are also dust collectors. Vertical blinds simply won’t, can’t, collect dust the way Venetians do. They’re also a lot easier to clean compared to the more finicky Venetians, especially if you choose aluminium or wooden louvres.

Fabric louvres will take a little bit more care, but you may find they’re well worth it for that more subtle and softer look. Fabric louvres also don’t suddenly turn into wind chimes when faced with a breeze. If you have your glorious sliding doors open and are being delightfully shaded by your Vertical blinds, you may want to take the clatter of aluminium or wooden louvres into consideration.

Types of Vertical Blinds and Minding the pennies

We live in interesting times, and yet we can’t let that stop us from purchasing things we actually need. So what are Vertical blinds and are they cost-effective? Of course, the size of the window will determine the price. Vertical blinds also give great value for money due to their durability. Few children, and no pets, can withstand playing or hanging or swinging off blinds, and thankfully Vertical blinds can take it. The faux wood louvres are scratch-resistant, and the aluminium ones will bend back into shape. And if they do get more seriously damaged, rather than buying a whole new set of blinds, you need only replace the damaged louvres.

Vertical blinds can even be painted, so as your decor changes, so can your blinds. Can’t find the exact fabric? Paint and add stencils of your choosing, to create a truly individual and personal design for your home. You can also wallpaper your Vertical blinds, so you can dazzle friends, family and yourself as you allow light to come through what was surely your wall! Vertical blinds are incredibly versatile when it comes to enlivening your decor.

Tricks of the blinds

You may wish to enhance the size of a room, or the height of a window, by using Vertical blinds. However, it’s advised that you also be careful with this. What are Vertical blinds and can they help elongate a window, this trick can be overdone. No amount of louvres will turn a small square window into a tall elegant one, and it can look a little bit silly instead of bringing the elegance you were aiming for.

What are Vertical blinds, in and of themselves, and why can’t they help but be elegant? Who knew they could be so versatile too? You do now.
