About Our Conservatory Roof Blinds

Very often, our customers are not maximising the use of their conservatory space due to temperature issues, such as it being too hot or cold, and privacy issues that are particularly prevalent at nighttime.

Installing blinds to your conservatory roof has many advantages, the most prominent and often necessary of these is keeping you cool in the summer. If your garden is facing in any other direction than North, the temperature in the conservatory can become unbearably hot from Easter through to the end of UK Autumn!

High-tech fabrics make the best blinds for conservatory roofs, as they are specially designed to achieve an easy, long-lasting and effective temperature-controlling solution.

The Advantages of Conservatory Roof Blinds

  • Specialist fabric controls temperature to keep you cool in the summer
  • Saves you energy and money through reduced heat loss in winter

Conservatory Roof Blinds For Light and Heat Control

Conservatory roof blinds also control light and heat very effectively. On sunny days, you can provide shading and cooling to your conservatory or open one blind to let in a generous amount of light. Reading a book or watching television can be difficult in your conservatory during the summer, but this can be achieved through blind installation.

In addition to keeping you cool in the Summer, our range of energy-saving fabrics prevent heat loss in winter, saving you energy and also saving you money. These special fabrics are available in the following ranges; pleated conservatory blinds and roller conservatory blinds.

Motorised Conservatory Roof Blinds

As the cost of technology decreases, motorised conservatory roof blinds are now realistic and affordable for many customers. Motorisation allows hands-free operation from the comfort of your own chair, in sections, altogether or individually as you wish. These blinds all require a mains electrical supply, although at limited sizes, window and conservatory roof blinds can now be battery powered too! As technology improves, modern batteries and solar-powered charging are changing the way we motorise and will be the future of the industry.

How can we help?

Conservatory Roof Blinds For Privacy

In built-up areas, conservatory roof blinds will also help maintain your privacy, especially if upstairs flats or nearby neighbours can look down on you from their first or higher floor windows. At night specifically, installing blinds will transform your room and provide additional perceived security by concealing your possessions from potential opportunists. In London, this is often the case with many new extensions that incorporate roof lights or Velux windows for extra protection and security.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the different types of conservatory roof blinds?

Conservatory roof panels can often be awkward to apply blinds onto, as they are often complex shapes. However, with our bespoke blinds, we can cut and make any style to fit your conservatory roof panels. It is a skilled job to both survey and manufacture these blinds and it is something we have done at Blind Technique for many years. We often recommend roller zip blinds if you have a rectangular opening that contains a roof lantern or flat skylight window, as they have side zip channels that support the fabric and provide good dimming levels.

  • What are the benefits of conservatory roof blinds?

The main benefit of having roof blinds in your conservatory is that they help to prevent your home from becoming too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Particularly in the winter, preventing heat from escaping and preventing cold from coming into your home can save you significant amounts of energy and money. Additionally, having these blinds in your conservatory can help with privacy and security, especially from nearby neighbours or if you have expensive possessions in your conservatory. Not to mention, they look great and can easily be adapted to the style of your home!

  • How do you clean conservatory roof blinds?

Every week or two weeks, you should take a duster to your conservatory roof blinds to ensure that they stay clean and free of dust. If you feel that your blinds need more of a clean, take a damp sponge and dip it into a mixture of mild soap and warm water. Gently wipe each of the blinds, making sure that you leave them hanging down until they are fully dry. It is best to do this in the summer months, as they will dry much quicker.

  • What fabrics are available for conservatory roof blinds?

The two main ranges of blind fabrics that we offer are Louvolite and Eclipse. Both of these fabrics help with light and temperature control, with the temperature element making them the best blinds for a conservatory roof. Louvolite offers pleated and roller fabrics that are scientifically tested to control temperature, as well as having a range of different options to suit any style. Eclipse solely offers pleated conservatory roof blind fabrics with properties including blackout, fire resistance and wipe clean. All of our fabrics are available to view in our showroom or if you would like to see them in your own home, book an appointment with one of our sales team who will bring plenty of samples along with them.

  • How long do conservatory roof blinds last?

The longevity of your blinds will depend on a few factors. Firstly, if you care for the blinds properly, remove dust and give them a deep clean every so often, they will stay looking great for longer. If your blinds are exposed to a significant amount of heat, this could mean they have a slightly shorter lifespan. If you have blinds in a room that gets a lot of sun, it's best to choose a material that is resistant to fading like PVC or aluminium. We would also recommend operating your conservatory roof blinds regularly and leaving them open around once a week so that the fabric memory is maintained.

  • Blind Technique did a superb job on the roof blinds for my conservatory. They fit the difficult shape exactly and are easy to draw open or shut. They are a replacement for the blinds the company did years ago, which I have been very pleased with, and I am very happy with the new ones.
