Trainee/Apprentice Blinds MakerPosition Open

We are currently seeking to employ a suitable applicant as a full-time trainee blind maker. We are a small and modern family business that specialises in the manufacture of conservatory and window blinds. We also sell and install all types of window blinds, external awnings and plantation shutters. The job will involve all aspects of manufacture of these products to our end customers, mostly domestic, but also trade and commercial customers.

This position is ideal for a candidate who is looking to learn a trade. Full support and on the job training will be provided with an opportunity to grow in the company towards becoming a fully qualified. Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with and learning how to manufacture the full range of products that we offer; window blinds, conservatory blinds and bespoke products, including motorisation
  • Supporting the rest of the team with the upkeep and general maintenance of our factory including accepting deliveries and organising carriage
  • Working in a neat and tidy and organised fashion
  • To abide by our Health & Safety policy and other company policies
  • Occasionally growing out on installation jobs to assist and learn about installing the products that you have learnt to make
  • To uphold high levels of customer service

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to measure
  • Proficient in English and able to communicate effectively with our team, converse with our customers, and read instructions
  • Polite and friendly attitude
  • Honest, reliable and trustworthy
  • Punctual and well presented in appropriate attire for the job
  • Flexible with working hours and with a can do attitude including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Good practical skills and willing to learn
  • Knowledge of using a computer and tablet device including e-mail, internet and basic systems

Job particulars:

  • Full time position
  • Base working 40 hours per week
  • Salary paid monthly via BACS
  • Overtime paid for extra hours
  • Salary in line with Apprenticeship rates

Marketing Position with Customer Services

Flexible Time
  • Flexible (around 20 hours per week) - Ideal for candidates with other commitments

  • Salary paid monthly

We are currently looking for an experienced marketing person to manage our day-to-day marketing activities. This role will also incorporate some elements of customer services. Your remit will be twofold; to bring in new high-quality leads and to use our existing customer base to ensure high levels of satisfaction whilst driving repeat business and recommendations.

This is a new position and an opportunity to join us at both a challenging yet exciting time as we expand our business. We are a small family-run company so this role will be very hands-on and requires someone with the ability and experience to plan, create and manage all aspects of our marketing activity.

Blind Technique, set up in 2004, offers a full and comprehensive Blinds, Curtains, Awnings, & Shutters service to both trade and retail customers in Middlesex and the surrounding areas.

The Role:

  • Planning, creating and managing marketing activities
  • Delivering high-quality new leads and qualifying too
  • Flexibility to decide which marketing channels work best for us
  • Measuring and managing the cost per conversion to achieve the best return on investment
  • Dealing directly with existing customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction, to drive return business and recommendations
  • Creating and uploading new content and images to our website and social media platforms
  • Assisting the sales team with prospecting, to qualify new leads and opportunities

Skills & Experience Required

  • At least 3+ years of experience in marketing/customer services
  • Good knowledge of traditional and digital marketing techniques including email marketing, SEO, Social Media and paid digital advertising such as Google Ads and Facebook Ads
  • Good content writer with the ability to research, learn and write about our range of products
  • A self-starter with the ability to confidently work on their initiative to generate and explore new ideas and opportunities
  • Highly organised individual with excellent time-management and multi-tasking skills and a helpful attitude
  • An enthusiastic and positive person who is comfortable working in an established small but growing family business environment and would fit in as part of the team
  • An excellent telephone manner, great communication skills (by phone, email, online chat and face to face), and very high standards of customer service
  • Ability to deal professionally with some tricky customers and scenarios and turn a negative experience into a positive one
  • Hardworking and flexible with the ability to work enthusiastically under pressure to meet deadlines
